Coding Continuum, Inc.'s educational programs are diverse and designed to meet client needs and objectives. In addition to teaching the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum designed to prepare students interested in obtaining Certified Professional Coder credentials, Coding Continuum, Inc. offers CPC-H preparation courses, "Evaluation and Management Coding Made Easy", and advanced specialty specific courses for experienced coders.  As a component of coding reviews, audits, and assessments, CCI professionals offer one-on-one training as well as in-service education.

Coding Curricula

Coding Continuum, Inc. professionals are licensed to teach the American Academy of Professional Coders Professional Medical Coding Curriculum. Classes are customarily conducted in four-hour blocks. Courses are offered at the local (Arizona) and national level.  In addition, Coding Continuum, Inc. professionals teach advanced classes both at the local and national level.  Curricula include:

• Professional Medical Coding Curriculum Course - This course is expressly designed for individuals wishing to obtain Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.  The CPC credential is oriented to physician services and prepares individuals to work in physician practice settings.  Coding Continuum, Inc. has substantially augmented the American Academy of Professional Coders curriculum to insure that students receive extensive education and practical experience in all aspects of ICD-9-CM diagnostic coding, CPT coding, correct application of modifiers, and HCPCS coding.   The course encompasses twenty-one chapters of study and includes instructor presentations, quizzes, class exercises, assignments, a midterm and final examination, as well as a review session prior to administration of the national certification examination.
• CPC-H Preparation Course - This course is expressly designed for individuals wishing to obtain Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPC-H) certification.  Coding Continuum, Inc. has created a unique curriculum that includes all aspects of ICD-9-CM diagnostic coding, CPT coding, correct application of modifiers, and HCPCS coding.  In addition, concepts that are unique to hospital-based settings are addressed in CCI's curriculum and include critical topics such as hospital-based prospective payment methodologies, chargemaster fundamentals, and hospital-based billing.  The course consists of twenty-one modules and includes instructor presentations, quizzes, class exercises, assignments, a midterm and final examination, as well as a review session prior to administration of the national certification examination.
• FAST TRACK  Program - FAST TRACK is a rigorous, accelerated program designed specifically for organizations or groups of individuals interested in expediting the the CPC and CPC-H curriculum teaching process.  CCI offers flexibility and works directly with clients to customize the curriculum schedule in order to minimize the impact to productivity and workflow in client settings.
• "Evaluation and Management Coding Made Easy" - This course is designed to prepare individuals for every aspect of Evaluation and Management coding from basic office visits to complex multiple day hospital stays.  "Evaluation and Management Coding Made Easy" serves as an excellent training ground for coders new to E&M and is an exceptional refresher for the more experienced coder.  Classes cover both the 1995 and 1997 coding guidelines.  Students learn to code all aspects of Evaluation and Management services via source document abstraction.  The course consists of six modules and includes instructor presentations, quizzes, exercises, reviews, and assignments.
• Specialty Specific Programs - Coding Continuum, Inc.'s professionals have developed specialty specific curricula and programs designed to enhance the knowledge base of coders.  Programs are offered both in the community and private client settings.  Contact Coding Continuum, Inc. for additional information or to request specialty specific program development.

In-service Education:

As an outcome of coding reviews and audits, Coding Continuum, Inc. offers post-assessment in-service education. In addition, CCI assists organizations that have identified specialty specific educational needs related to DRGs, APCs, ICD-9-CM, CPT, and Evaluation and Management coding.

One-On-One Education:

Coding Continuum, Inc. professionals provide one-on-one education to coders and physicians, primarily in conjunction with coding reviews and compliance audits. Sessions are designed to include a review of case-specific data and include personalized education regarding opportunities for improvement. Session duration is defined by the client in collaboration with Coding Continuum, Inc. professionals.
